Mental Moment-Confidence

In Coaches, Professional & Olympic Athletes

EinsteinOn Saturday, June 29 at 9am PST I am hosting a webinar: Top tips on how to build & keep your confidence for peak performance! Why confidence?

At the beginning of the year I polled my subscribers to see what webinars they’d like to see this year and confidence was by far the #1 topic people wanted more information about.

Did you know that some people are born (trait) with a higher level of confidence than others. On top of that various situations (state)  lower or raise confidence. For example, if you have low trait confidence but are a great student, this would raise your confidence around being a student. It may also slightly boost your general confidence. On the other hand, with low trait confidence if as a performer you are not performing in your perception, perfectly, your confidence drops and can keep dropping (because you are continuing to focus on the imperfections).

Most elite performers have higher trait confidence. This is part of what keeps you going. If your trait confidence (general confidence) is 75% you are not going to drop below 75%. Sure your lack of confidence is scary and filled with anxiety but you keep going. This does not mean that your confidence can’t be improved because it can.

I’ve worked with many elite performers and all of them have struggled with confidence. Many that I’ve worked with have achieved amazing things. Many have been to 1 or 2 Olympics and have not had to really think about their confidence because they’ve done so well. So why does their confidence wane now? I think there are many factors: politics, age, termination, different pressures, etc. Regardless, confidence can be improved whether you have low, medium or higher trait confidence. My webinar is going to tell you how.

Happy start of your week!
