Mental skills are a long-term solution (versus therapy) as it teaches us coping skills that give us the tools and the foundation for challenges and life.
Deliberate practice requires focused attention and is conducted with the specific goal of improving performance. Are you doing it or think you are doing it?
Be thankful and celebrate what you do. Recognize your accomplishments and know you can continue to get better. You just have to take that chance and do it!
Are you really aware of what you do to you? Negative self-talk+negative body language=negative outcome. Listen to yourself. Put positives in your equation!
Teach grit - courage and resolve; and strong character. Not perfectionism. Kids are afraid to make mistakes. Kids who are afraid to fail, don’t succeed.
Performance is no simple task. During competition, we can think too much (multitasking) and not do any one thing effectively. Our attention is divided.
