Mental Moment-Simon Says
Are you able to recognize that you have choices?
Do you struggle with indecision?
Why are you doing the job or performance that you are doing? Was it a conscious choice or did you just fall into it? Are you doing it because you aren’t sure what else you’d do? Are you afraid? When you were young you probably fall into things. There are a variety of reasons for this but the important thing to understand is that you probably didn’t choose them. For example, if you grew up running the 800 you may have learned to love it, you might have gotten really good at it but is it your passion or did you go along with it because you didn’t know what other choices and options you had?
This is not uncommon. It’s also not uncommon as an adult to resent or hate the 800, wondering, maybe knowing what the other options are but afraid to do something else. If you’ve been doing the 800 since you were 5 and are really good at it you feel guilty for wanting to throw it all away. If you are moderately good you feel guilt for not having reached your highest potential.
Regardless there can be frequent moments of indecision. Indecision largely, in part stems from fear (fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, fear of something better, fear of something different, fear of losing, fear of winning, etc.) but it also stems from not being sure that you want to continue doing what you are doing. This drains your confidence. Your intuition is saying that you are unhappy, not passionate about the 800 (anymore) and want to be doing the 1500. Instead of paying attention to your intuition you listen to the fear filled chatter from your brain. It overshadows your intuition. This happens so quickly you barely recognize it and continue going along. Before you know it 20 years have passed.
You don’t have to go along. I understand that its scary but you can work through your fear and do what you are passionate about.
Happy Tuesday!
