Mental Moment-Intuition

In Coaches, Professional & Olympic Athletes

intuitionOn Thursday I talked about how I thought the top three things necessary to live a happier, healthier life were acceptance, intuition and process (lifestyle). I spent some time on Thursday talking how important it is to accept yes, no, right, wrong, this or that and everything in between. Today I want to spend a little bit of time talking about intuition.

What is intuition? It’s that voice inside our soul, our gut or our heart that intuits what we should do. It’s the authentic self. It’s the part of us that know’s us and know’s where we should be going and what we should be doing. Why don’t we follow that the guidance of that voice? Because we think our head know’s best. Unfortunately the head is what screws us up and moves us many times in the wrong direction. Our head is what sends us mixed messages, negative messages and how to repeat the deadly patterns of the past. Our inner soul is what’s authentic.

Our head is a great tool but it works best used for thinking about learning and working. Our soul is to use feeling and is really to guide us on what we should be using for most things outside of learning and working environments. Should painters paint from their head? Should musicians play from thinking or feeling?

I do a lot of work with clients around finding their little voice, listening to it and making it stronger. I understand that feelings are scary and that if you are used to thinking about things to make them so then it’s hard to listen to your little voice but that little voice is there for a very, very good reason. And that little voice does not get in the way like your head does, it’s there to show you the authentic way.

Happy Saturday!
