Mental Moment-Super Soul Sunday
My book is about to come out! As a matter of fact the paper copy proof should get here today! It is exciting and I feel great about it! For more information on my book please visit the book page of my site. I am urging everyone to buy the paper book on July 4th (thank you)!
I wrote the book in 3 weeks. The manuscript was edited, the cover was done and the Kindle and paper book was all uploaded to Amazon. During this process, WOW, did I have to learn a lot: mentally, emotionally, physically and about the process but I was motivated to make it happen and in a 2 month time frame. And just when I thought I was done I realized I needed to set up an author’s page and get the book page formatted correctly not to mention marketing the book. 🙂
Marketing the book. Marketing the book. Yep. I did some marketing well in advance. I sent out some email campaigns (you probably received one), I am having a launch party and I did contact some local bookstores. All great beginnings. One day as I sat, tapping the keyboard of my PC trying to figure out what my more advanced marketing plan was I decided to send a FB that said: ‘who know’s Oprah’. There is no one better to know about my book particularly because it’s stuff Oprah talks about all the time. I figured at the very least no one would respond but to my surprise one of my FB friends responded saying she was friends with someone who was friends with Oprah. She gave me his name and I sent him a message. Rich responded within half a day saying that Oprah tweeted on Sunday mornings at 8am and that if I tweeted information about my book to him, he would retweet it to her and she would read it because they are friends.
I got up on Sunday morning at 7:45 (anyone who know’s me know’s that I do not get up early [yep this is early] on Sunday and can sleep till 9 or 10 on Sunday and I need to get up just before 8 so I could make coffee), 8:00 coffee in hand and sat down at the computer. I was already following Rich but found Oprah and clicked follow. What I didn’t realize was that the reason Oprah tweeted Sunday mornings at 8am is because she tweets around her show Super Soul Sunday. I showed up and initially was a bit lost, because I just thought Oprah was going to start tweeting (about what I am not sure; I didn’t think that far) and that then I could wow her with a tweet to Rich that he would retweet about my book. I had written the tweet ahead of time and I was READY! Ha ha ha ha well that no longer seemed appropriate given the conversation. So I went to see what was going on with Super Soul Sunday and before you know it was going with the flow of the conversation which included a tweet about my book. 🙂
I’ve been up at 7:45 (ugh) for 3 Sunday’s now not with the intent to (necessarily) win Oprah over with my book but because Super Soul Sunday really is such a great show and a great way to start my Sunday. I love my conversations with Rich and all the others that show up and we do occasionally hear from Oprah. At this point Oprah and I are not BFF’s but who knows and because I was able to be mindful and present I realized I didn’t really even care. I gained so much more than I realized. Join us the next Sunday (if you are up) for a fun, spiritual, philosophical conversation. *Coffee not included. 🙂
Happy days!
