Coming: New eBook for Exercise Addiction

 In Coaches, Healthy Lifestyles

If you are reading this you are probably struggling with exercise addiction, have searched for help and have struggled to find it. The statistics on my blog written about exercise addiction made it pretty clear that this is either a challenge for many people are a topic of interest. There are not many resources for people dealing with exercise addiction. I am working to change that.

Passionate about helping

I am very passionate about helping people who struggle with exercise addiction. Similar to eating disorders it starts ‘small’ and then at some point completely takes over the lives of the people struggling with it.

If you haven’t realized how consumed your life is with exercise, at some point you will. When you get to that point let me know so I can help. There are other ways to take control of  your life and to deal with difficult emotions besides using exercise and/or food.

My personal experiences with this

I was so sick with anorexia that I was hospitalized twice. I know what it feels like. I understand the denial. I understand how a person’s mind can be so consumed with food and unable to think clearly due to lack of nourishment that the person with the eating disorder isn’t even aware of what’s happening. ‘It’s just another diet’, right?

Alongside my anorexia I had exercise addiction. For a long period of time in my life there wasn’t much else other than work, exercise and thoughts about food. My mind was consumed with the small amounts of food I was eating and how that balanced out with all the exercise I was doing. I would have done anything to not eat and exercise all day long. At that time I probably ate a few hundred calories a day but got rid of those calories through purging, laxatives or exercise.

I was a fat kid and for me, it did start as just another diet. Initially I had no awareness around what was going on. Even as time went on and I was hospitalized I didn’t know what was going on. People were telling me it wasn’t normal but  I thought what I was doing was normal.

As I began to eat and not exercise things did become more clear particularly with the help of therapy. I came to realize that this was my way of taking control of my life. It was also a way of dealing with undesirable feelings & emotions. I couldn’t have gotten through any of this on my own.

eBook

I am in the process of putting an eBook together on exercise addiction. This first eBook on exercise addiction will help you develop an awareness of whether or not exercise addiction is a problem for you. If you are reading this you probably already think you have a problem with exercise. My eBook will help clarify this for you.

I am planning release of this eBook by the end of December with more eBooks around exercise addiction to follow. However, if after the first eBook you come to the conclusion that exercise addiction is a problem for you please get help; contact me for help. I work with clients via Skype and phone.

Happy Thanksgiving!
