FUN

Jennica.JPGThe noun, fun, builds off the previous mantra, “work hard, play harder”. Sometimes we get caught in the day to day routine and the monotony of the process. We tend to think about the next thing we have to do instead of what we are doing at the moment. For instance, today I have to get to work, check my email, check my voicemail, return phone calls, start my reports, go to this meeting, eat lunch on the fly, schmooze with the boss, and then maybe find some time to catch my breath before I run to get the kids, cook dinner, and so on and so forth until I go to sleep only to wake up and do the same thing again. Yikes! Just typing that sentence was exhausting. The lessons we learn about our day and the quality our time is all about how we frame it in our mind. In order to maximize our moments, live in each present moment. Be appreciative that you have a job and are drinking hot coffee in your warm office. The most important thing to do is enjoy your precious moments and remember to have fun.

Fun is such an important word that is often times underused and forgotten about in our society. We leave carelessness and celebration to the children and the young adults. In fact, we should be having just as much fun (if not more fun) now then when we were kids. We have earned the right to enjoy ourselves, smile and laugh. Give yourself something to look forward to each day and something you know will be fun for you. This could mean indulging in your favorite tv show, playing board games with your friends, appreciating a glass of wine, or running to cleanse your soul. Whatever it is you enjoy, remember to carve out time in your day for fun.
