Relaxation is important for athletes in their sport and in everyday life to help create a calm feeling and sense of control. Its ‘time-out’ from worry. Athletes can use specific relaxation techniques when feeling anxious, nervous, tense and also when feeling ‘out of control’ emotionally. You can use it before going to sleep to wind down, when feeling the pressure of training or just prior to competition.
