There have been some major grand slam upsets this year. On the men’s side, Wawrinka knocked off the top-seeded Nadal in the 2014 Australian Open final. On the women’s side, Cornet knocked out Williams in the third round of Wimbledon. Again at Wimbledon, Bouchard defeated third-seed Simona Halep — the highest seed left in the tournament – to reach her first-ever grand slam final. What’s going to happen at the US Open? I think it will be an interesting tournament.

What things get in the way of grand slam wins even for the top 10 men and women? The top 5 things that I spoke about at this year’s Professional Tennis Registry’s (PTR)  International Symposium. They are as follows:

  • Resilience: learning to turn around streaks of lost points and games.
  • Positive thinking: combating self-defeating thoughts
  • Self-confidence: ability to consistently play from your zone
  • Focus: capacity to fine-tune attention in the moment
  • Energy regulation: managing energy and emotions before and during games for consistent performance

My new system: Beating the Tennis Demons The 3-Step System to Win More Matches without Working Harder keeps tennis players out of their head and more resilient, positive, confidence, focused and energized. Some of the above professional tennis players use systems similar to mine but are missing critical elements that leave them open to mental and emotional collapse during challenge moments of a match. My system simple and easily covers all of those moments to leave less margin of error.

I want to give a shout out of congratulations to CiCi Bellis for being the female 2014 US Open Junior Sportsman Award winner.
